u13s vs Hilton

On a bright sunny morning, Rolleston were put into bat on a greenish track, looking for another good start as in previous matches but it was not to be, Liam Goode, Dan Featherstone, Bertie Winstone and Ankit Rai all back in the pavilion within 4 overs with the score on 6. Much credit must go to Dan Wildman (17) who saw off the remaining overs from the Hilton opening bowlers ably assisted by Simon Billings (6). Once the bowling changed a flurry of shots saw the scoreboard start to tick over, before both batsmen departed with the total on 50. After Lewis McQuillan had departed to an excellent piece of Hilton fielding it was left to Chas Wood (27 no 4x4fours) and young Joe Bateman (6) to set a good target of 97, with some fine shots and excellent running between the wickets. A remarkable achievement from the early destruction due to good length and swing bowling from Hilton.

Rolleston took to the field but with some less than convincing early bowling than previous matches, with a lot of no balls (10) and wide (19) deliveries helping the Hilton total increase steadily. Some fine bowling from in particular Liam Goode (3-2-2-2), Dan Wildman (3-1-4-0) and Lewis McQuillan (3-0-7-0) allowed the Rolleston side to take control of the game. Rolleston saw the game out with the use of 9 bowlers in total to win by 20 runs to keep the unbeaten start to the year going.
