Rolleston 2nds started the new season, by setting solid foundations from the start. After being put into bat, N.West (42) and R.Bryan (99) put on a 104 opening partnership, to lay the foundations, for the Willowers. A mini collapse followed but an experienced innings from veteran K.Widdows (39) steadied the ship, before Bryan was removed on 99. Rolleston posted a good total of 218.


The Willowers showed class with the ball, from the off with M.Bellm (2-34) and D.Cooke (2-16), taking a wicket apiece early doors to put Rolleston well and truly on top. A determined innings from the Alrewas middle order halted the attack, before vice-captain R.Wyatt (3-20) removed the 1st of his 3 victims. Another 2 wickets followed for Wyatt to put victory well within Rolleston sights, but Alrewas battled to the end and finished on 9 down, leaving Anton Williams’s men 1 wicket short of a dream start., of 27 points. After this weekend Rolleston finished on 20 points, 3rd in the table.
